Pack Back

(updated 27 April 1999)

PackBack will perform on the fly compression of HTML documents (removal of extraneous spaces, CRLFs, and comments). This can save reduce the document size (typically by about 10%), which may be important when communicating over slow lines.

This compression is context sensitive -- code within PRE, APPLET, and SCRIPT blocks is never modified, and SSI "comments" are not removed.

PackBack can be run either as an SRE-http addon, or from an OS/2 command line.
