BBS |
a bulletin board system for use under the SRE-http web server (updated 12 January 2000) |
BBS
is bulletin board system (BBS) for the WWW.
BBS (ver 1.02m) offers a rich array of features in a relatively simple
to configure package. Some of the more basic features include:
- A flexible access control mechanism allows explicit controls on which
directories (file-areas) a user can peruse.
- Directory specific inclusion files (i.e.; FILES.BBS) can be used to control
file and sub-directory display.
- Alternatively, directory specific headers, footers, "description files" and
"exclusion lists" can be used.
- Individual file descriptions can be displayed, along with file size and
creation date. If desired, you can suppress any of these fields.
- Optional "automatic descriptions" can be generated for HTML, .ZIP,
and text files.
- .ZIP files can be "opened and displayed", with subsequent retrieval
of a specific file from within the .ZIP archive
- Netscape 2.0 + (and other HTML 3.2 compliant browsers), can upload
files to your bulletin board (with several forms of notification).
- Uploads and downloads can be recorded on a per user basis.
- Downloads can be disallowed if a user's "download to upload" ratio grows
too large.
- Multiple links per file (text-download, binary-download, and "mime
type" download) can be displayed.
- You can create a "latest submissions" index that spans multiple directories.
- You can create user specific upload and download directory (trees).
- Y2K compliant (as of ver 1.02k)
